Torah vs. Old Testament

Growing up in a Jewish community I always understood that the Torah is the most important book(s), but also not the whole story considering the Mishna, Gemarah, Talmud, etc. that make up the real day-to-day Judaism and the full story of Judaism as it’s lived by people today.

Similarly, I was brought up understanding that the “Old Testament” was a Christian fan fiction that picked just one part of all the Jewish texts, poorly translated it, and picked wording to further Christian doctrine.

However, I’ve never read the Old Testament – any version or translation of it. I’ve come across snippets or soundbytes that always sounded off to me.

Do you have any examples of where the Christian Old Testament is off from the wording or the meaning of the Torah, and leads to different conclusions?
