Torah hard to get through?

I was raised as a reform Jew, but I haven’t seriously studied Torah since my bar mitzfah. Recently I found a copy and have been reading it to re connect with my faith. Genesis and Exodus have been very enjoyable to read for the most part. I enjoy the narrative structure and interpreting the significance of the struggles and events that happen. However when I get to the portions with endless laws and priestly practices, it becomes almost impossible for me to read.

Has anyone else experienced this? I very much want to practice my faith this way but I don’t want my reading to become a chore, I am afraid I will stop all together. What do you think? I do not attend synagogue although I might start again in the future.
