Thoughts on “Alexander” as a Hebrew name?

I’m far enough in becoming Jewish where I’m thinking about Hebrew names. Incidentally, my legal middle name is “Alexander” (named after a close Jewish friend of the family) which I’m aware of having Jewish associations due to the legend that Alexander the Great impressed so much on the Jewish people that they made his name one of theirs. This is the first jarring candidate for a Hebrew name, being that it establishes a clear personal connection to me, however with the name not being of Hebrew origin I’m skeptical. Is Alexander ever used as a Hebrew name for religious purposes? Or is it more of a cultural name that has been adopted for Jewish people but less appropriate for those circumstances?
