Not sure how to phrase this question… I was always taught that Shabbat starts when you can see three stars in the sky (please correct if inaccurate!) vs. sundown. However, holidays begin at sundown (again, what I’ve been taught and read). Do stars factor into the beginning or ending of holidays in any way? I know some people use official times posted by local synagogues or regional clocks. I got confused if one was star-related and other were just sundown or if they all should be determined the same way and I’ve learned inaccurately. Thank you all for taking the time to help! G’mar chatima tova and tzom kal to those fasting (completed my first real, intentional fast today and am proud of myself).
