Sephardic Jews and Iberian culture

I’ve just seen a Spanish Fr*nce 24 piece about Sephardic Jews in Istambul. It absolutely moved me when one of them started speaking fluent Spanish/Ladino and another one Portuguese. Their children are finally being given their respective nationalities back, after half a millennium of Banishment.

So, I’m wondering how much Sephardi Jews in general identify with Iberian culture and think as Portugal or Spain as a home, rather than Israel.
