References to dogs in the Torah

A month after we welcomed our first child, this past Saturday, we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog unexpectedly.

It was really hard. I know dog ownership isn’t big in more religious circles, but this was a special dog and she was a gentle companion.

A friend told me there’s a reference to dogs in the Torah, something about when the Jews left Egypt, the dogs did not bark and were rewarded for it? Am I remembering correctly?

Just curious if there are any other references to dogs in Judaism. I’d love to learn.
