Recommended Sources/History on Rabbinic Figures & Practices in Iran

It occurs to me I have learned (if forgotten) about an historical rabbinic figure associated with just about any country or that has hosted Jews————-except the country my parents are from. Even presuming there aren’t any notable rabbinic figures in Iran’s history—–which itself is an interesting question—— I am curious about the broad contours of Jews’ religious history there.

Put another way: I can describe ideas/practices and intracommunal disagreements that characterize communities I’ve never interacted with, such as Yemeni, Moroccan or Iraqi Jewry, but I can’t do that (to my satisfaction) with Iranian Jewry.

Does anyone have recommendations?
