My atheist friend & roommate is a pretty good one until he compares Judaism to Catholicism. I’ve tried a few times to include him in some cultural stuff but half the time he derides it so I’ve stopped. I tried talking to him about it, how we’re not just a religion but an ethnoreligion, people, & tribe, but he just said religions are too tribalistic. I dropped it. He wasn’t being argumentative, & when we talked I got that out of him when trying to understand his PoV. He would probably read articles or podcasts about understanding us a bit better. If I wasn’t living with or enjoying spending time with him, I wouldn’t care so much, but I’m pretty tired of him seeing me do Jewish stuff & thinking down on it.
