Question about thanksgiving

Hi, I know it’s Shabbat so this might not get much response, but I was raised by my adopted parents who aren’t Jewish and I’m trying to reconnect with Judaism since moving away from college. That being said I don’t know a lot about Judaism especially with regards to holidays. I don’t celebrate Christmas personally anymore and since valentines is related to St. valentine, I don’t celebrate that anymore either.

But that being said, I’ve gotten mixed answers on Thanksgiving. Some people say they celebrate it, others say they have a special fall Shabbat dinner. I brought it up to my friend (who’s not Jewish) and he said it’s an American holiday so if you’re American you should celebrate it. I’m just kinda confused. Thanks in advanced!
