Question about Jewish heritage and the law of return

So my knowledge about Judaism is pretty minimal, so I wanted to ask some questions and clarify some things.

Okay here we go, My great-grandmother was a Jewish woman from a Jewish family, she married a christian man and got several sons, one of those is my grandfather. That makes him a jew according to jewish religious law I believe, he married an atheist woman (my grandmother) and got a son (my father) My grandfather was not a religious man at all and didn’t grew up with jewish traditions. So did the jewish line died out with my grandfather and would he be considered a real jew? And does that mean that my father and myself have the right to return to Israel and obtain Israeli citizenship?

Thanks for taking the time to read and I’m looking forward to your comment!
