The first Temple was destroyed because of Idolatry, adultery, and murder. Things that the human animal can desire (taavah). The second Temple was destroyed because of baseless hatred from pride (gaavah). It’s been about 1,956 years since the destruction of the second Temple. Today 2023 (5783) and we Jewish Israelites are still struggling with taavah and gaavah without a Temple. Eretz Yisrael is in turmoil with groups hating and attacking each other. The mere mention of Palestinians has 1/3 of us seeing red and the other 1/3 apathetic, and the other 1/3 crying at the inhumanity of their treatment.
It is my sincere conviction that Mashiach ben Yosef and Mashiash ben David are here in the sense that their respective spirits hover over us awaiting worthy people to inhabit. Maybe endowed is a better word or imbued. I don’t know but I hope it is understandable what I’m trying to say.
We are getting things wrong when our inner Temples our inner selves are struggling in the societies we live in. How can we help each other make life easier for each other? How can we be a bracha for each other? Reduce each other’s burden? Elevate each other? We want Mashiach now because the world needs peace. The environment needs peace. We need peace.
