On this day on the 1st of Av 5707, the SS Exodus, carrying 4,515 refugees to Israel, was intercepted and rammed by 2 british destroyers in international waters, and then boarded using live ammunition. 3 Holocaust survivors died. The rest were forcibly transferred to a concentration camp in Germany.
