NYC ASL Interpreters: Opportunity to do a serious chesed for someone

Mishenichnas Adar marbin b’simcha!

I am a member of a small new kehilla in Queens (private message for more info), we launched this year at the high holidays and have been doing our best to host large meaningful community gatherings for Shabbat and Yom Tov. We are doing a multilingual megilla reading for Purim to reflect the diversity in our community and mirror the multiple languages of the decrees of Achashverosh. To begin with we wanted an ASL signer to take a section of the megilla, but it seems we have a new hearing impaired member at the last minute and would love to have interpretation for them. Unfortunately we have blown our budget already before this came to light. I am personally willing to discuss some payment out of my own pocket if someone is interested but really can’t afford to donate their time and talent that night. I am a high school teacher in Brooklyn though, I’m not loaded, but I’m willing to set aside what I can.

I would appreciate any offers or recommendations of people to reach out to. Please feel free to respond here or private message me. I am going to be logging off for Shabbat but will respond tomorrow night. Shabbat Shalom!
