[NSFF?] Can we talk about pornography and masturbation?

Can we have an open convo – I’m sure I’m not the only one struggling with these urges and the ever-present availability of porn. I’m aware of the subs (/r/pornfree and /r/nofap) but they rarely address the struggle from a spiritual perspective. Ditto for close friends, who are largely secular and don’t view it as problematic.

I’m torn personally – there are days where refusing the call of my libido feels completely unnatural and I wonder if abstaining is mentally healthy if it makes me irritable and further consumed by my desires. I have an SO but our desire don’t coincide so often as to completely do away with self-stimulation.

I guess what I’m looking for is a safe space to talk through this – what works for you? How do you wrestle with your desires?
