Non-Askenazi Jews of Reddit, do you feel well represented by Ashkenazi labels like Orthodox, Reform, etc?

Concepts like Reform and Orthodox were born quite recently and in Europe.

I (as half Mizrahi, half Ashkenazi) always use the term ‘Traditionally Observant’ because Orthodox feels disingenuous – I do follow halakhah almost 100%, but I definitely don’t have the same relationship to it that an average Ashkenazi Orthodox person does in my experience. I don’t feel comfortable being labeled in the same way, it feels like people will make untrue assumptions about my religious practices and beliefs.

I’m curious if this is a wider experience.
