New to reciting Tehillim. Do I just read them aloud? Is there anything in particular I should do?

I want to start reciting Tehillim. At this time B”H there is no one who is ill I am saying them for; I just want to do it to bond with Hashem.

I have read you should do it before or after davening.

Is there an amount of psalms to start off with?

Is it okay to say them in English at first as I get better with my Hebrew pronunciation? I am very slow at reading Hebrew which destroys my concentration.

Is there perhaps a transliterated book of Tehillim in the same way there is a transliterated Siddur?
