My traditional Catholics tend to claim that modern Judaism isn’t the same as old Judaism but rather a revisionist system called "Talmudism" that isn’t a true expression of Abrahamic faith.

This always seemed like a claim that was missing substance. I know Catholics like to discredit other movements due to a supremacy doctrine (even calling the Church the New Israel), so I was hoping to get a Jewish perspective on what the talmud actually is in Jewish history.
