Hi! I (a non-Jewish person) recently bought in a predominantly Jewish community. The previous owners left a mezuzah on the garage door frame with scripture still in it. Like I said, I am not Jewish and would like to move/discard this.
My boyfriend says we should just throw it out, but I feel weird about throwing out sacred text, even though I am a non-believer. I want to be respectful. Does anyone know how I should go about removing the mezuzah and the scripture off my property? Could I take it to my local synagogue?
