Jewish literature taking place in Temple times

so there is much literature which explicitly or allegorically take place in medieval (Christian) Europe & Asia Minor (mostly Muslim). I love medieval fantasy but I was wondering are there any books that take place in a similar Jewish context, like during the Temple periods? Or fiction books about Jews in the Middle Ages?

I ask this as I’m now reading Sapkowski’s “Tower of Fools”
