It’s definitely weird when non-Jews refer to themselves as goyim, right?

I always took that to be somewhat derogative, never heard it said by a Jewish person in a positive way. I cringe every time my non-Jewish friends say things like “I’d love to try homemade challah, being a goyim I don’t see it much” and then I get “it’s fine for you to say it, so why can’t I? Do you own the word?” Like…no, you just sound like an idiot. Especially since they’ll never use the singular.

Or am I wrong? I could have sworn it’s said to be condescending.
