I just listened to a BBC interview of Ayman Odeh, head of the Hadash party in Israel (I have searched but cannot find the audio online). At one point, the interviewer says, “Some would brand you a self-hating Communist Jew, a badge that I would hope you would wear with honor, what do you say to that?”
It’s no insult to call Hadash Communist, because it was formed from the old Israeli Communist party. But what does he mean “self-hating Jew – a badge to wear with honor”? It sounds to me like the interviewer is honoring Jew-hating.
What do you think? Am I over-sensitive?
