Is that offensive?

Hi,

i’m an Israeli and studied in a Jewish boarding school, however i’m an Atheist. Besides the point.

My mother is living with a guy who is religious to some extent.

I sent a cute picture of my cat in family whatsap group, but photoshopped a kippah and פאות‏‎ (i don’t know how to say it in english).

So basically, my mom feels it was kinda offencive to him and his beliefs, and asked to delete it.

The question is, is it offensive, or just an overreaction?
