Is studying Torah forbidden to gentiles?

Hey guys, so I have been looking into Judaism for a few months now and have hit a point where I have read books, watched countless videos online of rabbis speaking, lurked on reddit, and seen online services of my local congregations but I want to get serious about if conversion is right for me. I feel nervous even contacting a rabbi to say I want to be Jewish if I don’t even know the Torah, BUT I have read that the 2 things gentiles are forbidden to do is keep Shabbat and study torah. Sorry if this is a stupid question but am I meant to learn the Torah through conversion classes? Or should I read it before I even contact a rabbi so he doesn’t think i’m wasting his time?
