Is nyc tap water kosher if you boil it?

Hi, I’ve lived in nyc my whole life and never realized their were tiny shellfish in the tap water. I just read that OU deemed it not kosher. I’m making pasta now and wondering if it’s okay if I boil it. I’m also wondering why it took so long for me to learn this. I’ve lived in a modern orthodox community my whole life and most people I know do use tap water.
