Is it okay to not celebrate if you are living alone and with no jewish close relationships?

I’d like to be more serious about the religion I feel I don’t imply myself enough, but it gets very hard to celebrate alone. I’m too shy to go to the synagogue I feel I could meet new people there and maybe build relationships, however I fear that I won’t be welcomed since nobody will know me.
