I was watching Shtisel on Netflix and there is a scene where an old woman says her dead husband is keeping a space for her in heaven. And her son who is a Rabbi says that heaven is segregated like a Synagogue and men and women don’t meet. I had never heard that one before. Does anyone know is this taken from some obscure place in the Talmud or other writings or what? Does anyone know the source, is it even a real teaching?
EDIT: to be clear I’m not asking is this TRUE — I wouldn’t believe it no matter what holy book said it. I’m just asking if this is actually a historical teaching or whether it was made up for the show.
