I’m a jew first, but an atheist in my mind. How about that?

I know the topic of atheism is super taboo within the jewish community, across most if not all sub-groups.

(Note: my experience comes from more orthodox/hassidic viewpoints and communities)

So my question is this: would you actually continue your relationship with a friend you knew was an atheist/thinking about becoming one?

At this point, I’m firmly rooted in my beliefs of there being no god, etc. But i’d like to hear the Jewish community ( reddit provides a cool one ) on this taboo, yet important topic.

Thanks in advance, Anonymous Atheist
