If an Orthodox convert stops practicing is he still considered Jewish?

A coworker went through an Orthodox conversion but he stopped practicing years ago (edit: apparently he stopped due to a deep depression following his father’s death). Is he still considered Jewish?

Edit: He was worried he wasn’t going to be welcomed, I was curious if his status was still valid but I didn’t want to ask him an insensitive question. I just got a very happy text from him saying he was invited by several of his synagogue friends for a shabbat dinner. I am very happy for him because this was weighing heavily on him.
