If a Jewish woman adopts a child, is her adopted kid Jewish also?

Hi everyone I have a really interesting question I feel. I know in Jewish culture, if your mom is Jewish, you’re Jewish. My friend was adopted from China, her adoptive Father is Catholic, her adoptive Mother is Jewish. Dose she count as Jewish? I’m just curious
