My mother has been telling me we were Jewish for as long as I can remember. I’ve gotten holocaust stories, we’ve celebrated the classic mixed Hanukkah and Christmas, and she has explained to me that my great grandparents were both German Jewish. I have no idea how to verify her claims, but I would desperately like to connect with that side of my ancestry. What can I do from here? Visiting temples is a no-go because of the virus, obviously. What can I do now, and what can I do when things finally calm down?
I would like to reconnect with my Jewish heritage, but don’t know how. What’s my first step?
