I thought of something about Ethiopian Jews and I need to know where I went wrong.

I heard that Ethiopia converted to Judaism with queen Sheba and then later converted to Christianity. Those who refused are the modern beta Israelites. But if Ethiopia remained relatively insular, as I heard they have genetically, then shouldn’t many if not most Ethiopian Christians be Halachickly Jewish even if they have not practiced in 1200 years? This would mean there are like heavily rounded 100 million Jews in this world, excluding the 10 tribes? That sounds crazy, so where am I obviously wrong?
