I Stayed Quiet

I recently had an antisemitic encounter and wrote a poem in response. I signed it with my hebrew name. Here it is:

I stayed quiet while the acts of terrorists were justified as resistence.

I stayed quiet because the antisemite sewed my mouth shut.

I want to scream and yell, but I am quiet.

My muscles and teeth clench as lies and mistruths are thrown about.

But I am silent because the antisemite sewed my mouth shut.
