I Experienced Some Concerning and Antisemitic Mask Rhetoric

So today at Panera while waiting in line someone else was not wearing a mask. They turned to me (I was wearing a mask) and said “I think I need to get an armband that says I’m vaccinated, like what the Jews wore” which was totally unprompted and shocking. In disbelief of what I had just heard I just blankly stared at them.

I had heard this nonsense online before, but never had I experienced it. What on earth makes people think this is OK? In all honesty I’m having trouble coping with this casual and obviously wrong way of pushing these beliefs. I truly wonder if that person would have said that if they knew I’m Jewish.
