How do we feel about non-Jewish people celebrating Hanukkah?

I’ve been invited to two Hanukkah parties hosted by people who are not Jewish. At one of those parties, I’ll be the only Jewish person there and at the other, there will be one other Jewish person.

I personally told both hosts that I’d be there and that it’s fine, but my dad thought it was weird. Is this a form of cultural appropriation or appreciation?
