How do the various strains of Judaism look upon secular use of the shofar?

I am currently in possession of a very nice, hollowed out horn, with mouthpiece and everything. Had it for ages, knew it was used in Judaic ritual, but I’d almost forgot I had it. Former trumpet player, so I know you don’t blow on it like a wind instrument—you use (pretty much) trumpet technique.

If I got it out again and used it, you know, as a general attention-getting device, or as a musical instrument, I assume it wouldn’t be looked upon kindly. Or would it? No sacrilege is of course intended.

EDIT: Had a look online for shofar pictures. This mightn’t be a shofar after all; it’s not your typical C-shaped ram’s horn, it’s all long and twisty.
