How come such a large percent of Jews were in Europe despite all the persecution they went through there? How come Jews in other places didn’t have such a massive population?

I’m not Jewish so I may not know much about Jewish history but from what I know the Israelites fled from Israel to Europe, other parts of the Middle East, India, and Ethiopia after the second Jewish revolt.

So why did Europe have such a large Jewish population despite Europeans putting Jews through so much oppression, and why did places like India, which were massively more tolerant, have a significantly smaller Jewish population?

My best guess is that European Christians forcing Jews into banking is what allowed the population to grow due to allowing Jews in Europe to provide for more children, but is there any other explanation?
