Jews are among the first to support and stand by LGBTQ people. However, there are some groups within Judaism that are becoming vocal in their opposition and at times violent, like what happened in Jerusalem Pride Parade a couple of years ago. Like other religions, Judaism has its own fundamentalists, they’re not as powerful as the Muslim and Christian fundies, but they exist.
Now my question is, do the Jews who support LGBTQ rights, do so because of Judaism or despite it? How do the Jewish people approach the subject of homosexuality and same-sex marriage in light of the Jewish Scriptures and Tradition?
