Help me mourn my cat

Hi all, I’m having a real bad start to the new year. Our wonderful family cat, Jewel, had to be put down yesterday and I’m completely heartbroken. I loved her so much.

I’m having a hard time coping with it. I’m away at college so I didn’t even get to say goodbye to her. I gave myself yesterday to basically sit shiva (skipped class and stayed home to mourn her), but I’m still hurting and thinking about it brings tears to my eyes.

I was just wondering if you guys had any advice for dealing with grief (particularly during the high holidays).
