Because I loathe the fact that the minute I put on a kippa of almost any style, I’m making a hasqafic statement, and because I believe a head covering should actually cover the head, I’m open to suggestions for viable alternatives to kippot, with some qualifications:
I don’t think grown men should wear baseball caps, excepting very few circumstances.
It would need to be suitable for “smart casual” wear if a hat (maybe not the best term, but my idea of casual involves pants nicer than jeans, but not quite slacks and a long-sleeve, lightweight henley; I don’t wear shorts or athletic shoes).
Would need to be usable with tefillin.
