Have any of y’all stopped going to Jewish events because of a fear of the rise of nazi beliefs in the US?

I’m supposed to go to a Jewish community event soon, and I’m feeling really hesitant & nervous about going because of everything I see in the news and their links to neo-nazi ideals/organizations. I’m sure everything will be fine but this is a genuine fear that’s been worsening for me lately. I’m 24 and I never in my life thought that nazis in the US would ever be a threat or even a mainstream thing but here we are. Do any of y’all have a similar fear?
