Halloween’s symbols, a collection of impurity

Commented this in a thread but think it is relevant as a standalone post. Every symbol you can think of for halloween is to do with impurity. Ironic but not surprising that these should be revered. Tombstones: dead bodies and by extension graveyards are the primary source of impurity. Black cats: associated with demons, a sage mentioned in the Talmud did some odd procedure using dead black cats and saw all the demons the human eye normally can’t see. He went mad and the sages had to pray special prayers to heal him. Spiders: Gaon uzenu vetifartenu the Ben Ish Chai writes that a person should sweep away cobwebs as preparation for Shabbat, as they are linked to impurity. Witches: The Torah talks about it in association with raising the dead and other forms of impurity
