Great grandmas hamentashen filling

Ok, here’s the deal.

My grandma is 91 years old. And today, she was talking to me on the phone about how her mom (my great grandma) made the best hamentashen ever. Right before my great grandma died, she told my grandma to pay attention to what she was doing, so that if she died she could make it. My grandma wouldn’t hear such a thing and couldn’t bring herself to speak that way. She died a couple weeks later.

The filling, from what she remembers, was finely chopped walnuts and honey and “I don’t know what else.” She said she has never been able to find that filling in hamentashen anywhere. She just called me up to say “oh, maybe something with orange juice?” So who knows.

I want to try and make them for her. Her mother was a Russian jew that came to the US around 1915.

Anyone have any ideas?
