Funny situation using Yiddish words in English

Currently in a cell biology class, my professor and I are both Jews with Ashkenaz backgrounds and used to live in Puerto Rico. In today’s class, she starts discussing a complicated figure depicting a group different cell proteins, which she referred to as “all this meshugas,” intending that we didn’t need to pay much attention to their names or functions

For my classmates who aren’t as familiar to these terms, they frantically taking pictures of the slide, circling the proteins and writing “meshugas protein complex.” I wonder how many people are going to write this on their exams
