Found Mezuzah scroll – how to handle?

My friends found this in another friend’s apartment – I’m pretty sure it’s a mezuzah scroll? I know the Shema is written on it, so I’m assuming that’s where it’s from. I’m writing to ask what to do with the scroll. I planned on reaching out to the Chabad or Hillel on my campus (I’m a college student), but wanted to ask if there was anything I needed to do, or what the proper actions to take are to respect the scroll. I also asked if my friend knew whose it was, since I assume if it’s theirs they’d like it back. Thank you!
