For those that keep kosher, how do you make yourself feel ‘part of the team’ at work?

Hi everyone!

Looking to get some opinions – I work in an environment where going out for dinner/team outings is an expected area of the job.

Many times I feel like the odd one out when it comes to going to dinners: I might be in a city when I can get kosher food, but eating something packaged/double-wrapped is a bit awkward. I might be in a place where it’s hard to get kosher food, so I’ll make a peanut butter sandwich with items from a grocery store and bring it to the restaurant. Oftentimes I’ll just order a drink in a to-go cup, if food is not available for whatever reason (happens oftentimes at conferences).

Has anyone had similar experiences? Tips on getting over the embarrassment?
