Ezra 10 – does "put away" mean kill?

Or does it mean divorce? Or simply remove from our presence?

2 We have been unfaithful to our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope for Israel in spite of this. 3 So now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

Deuteronomy 13:6-9

6 If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods’ (whom neither you nor your fathers have known, 7 of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end), 9 But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
