My wife, who was raised and still loosely identifies as Christian, is a little put-off by the concept of synagogue membership fees. I can see why this feels strange, as she was raised in a global denomination that has millions of dollars to support their churches and members all over the world.
I want to help her understand that this is not a pay-to-play situation, but more that synagogues just do not have the resources that large international churches do. Or at least that’s my understanding of the idea behind fees.
Am I correct in my guess? How can I help her feel more comfortable with the concept?
