Sorry to post yet another genealogy-based question. I’ll keep it short.
Paternal grandmother is Jewish (both sides of her family). Paternal grandfather is not. Dad was raised secular from any religion.
Maternal grandfather is Jewish (had a bar mitzvah, both sides of his family). Maternal grandmother is not. Mom was raised secularly as well.
Obviously I’m not Jewish by Halakha standards, but my Ancestry came back with a strong amount of “European Jewish.”
Judaism has always been a presence in my life because of each of those grandparents so I feel tied to the community in that way. So then what is the term for this? Ethnically Jewish? How can I express how important this heritage is to me without misleading as to my actual status?
