Does a plate become unkosher when it touches the sink?

I understand how plates are divided between dairy, meat and pareve. How are kosher dishes washed? Are they washed separately? Do you make sure it doesn’t touch the sink because a sink has touched dairy, meat and pareve ingredients by watering down in it.
