![]() | It seems to me that the Kamtza, bar kamtza affair is about the Parthian client kings, in this case Orodes the 3rd, in convincing the ruling class of Judea, the priests and such, not to join the Roman Empire, but instead join the Parthians and the Jews reject it. So, I did some digging and found the blemished bull of Kamtza. Here you can see the character is portrayed with a significant army. Something, the judeans of the day did not have, elephants and such!!, but the Parthians would have had. Orodez 3, can be translated as Orod(Jude), Judas of Galilee, who happend to start the revolt. Orodes 3 was killed after a banquet in Judea. As per Persian records, he was killed after a hunt(meaning outside his Empire. Judas of Galilee was recorded to have raided the Roman Armory of sephoris and laid seige to Jerusalem. So, not some simple guy we are talking about here. Do you think there is a connection. This mosaic is from Galilee, the hot bed of the revolt. I feel the dead sea area, galilee and such were under the sphere of influence of the parthians, Jerusalem proper was under the influence of the Romans and all the issues stem in this region, because this is a transition region between the empires. submitted by /u/Ok-Being7684 |
